Landowner and Custodian Sarah Wickham
As a celebrant I have officiated at the natural burial grounds in Cardiff and Usk and knew how peaceful and beautiful these were. I have always liked the way they gave families the freedom and time to do things their way, but also loved the peaceful relaxed feel of the burial grounds. When I realised there was not a natural burial ground in Pembrokeshire, I was surprised because people come here for the countryside.
When we started New Meadow Farm we saw a real opportunity to bring something special to Pembrokeshire. A place families could arrange a funeral that fitted them, in unhurried beautiful countryside. The natural burial ground is now getting a chance to establish itself. We are finding new wildflowers and wildlife, and it has given us the opportunity to support our native habitats and plant new native trees and we will continue to support and establish our native habitats. The natural burial ground has become a special place for all the family as often Jesse will help me with the meadow and has taken a special interest in the bug hotel he helped to build. We want it to be a special place for all that use the natural burial ground.
We chose to offer natural burial with Leedam because they are passionate about offering sustainable natural burials that are personal, but which celebrate and support the countryside.
